"The Big Musical:" Hillcrest's largest and most famous tradition will be back this spring!
Hillcrest High School is excited to announce
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
WHEN: Tuesday, October 27, 2020. After school.
WHERE: Hillcrest High School Auditorium
HOW: Find a song from a musical that you can sing 30 seconds of. Practice it. Sign up for an audition time HERE. Show up to the auditorium in your mask about 10-15 minutes before the time you signed up for. There will be an online audition form you will have to fill out that day at home or on your phone. Then we will call your name, and you will perform your 30-second song. Pretty simple. You will need to bring a karaoke version of your song or minus track on your phone or device and we will plug it into the system. You can also just perform with a live pianist if you would like to bring one. You can't sing without music though. And the music you sing along with shouldn't have someone else singing on it. Make sure you practice your song while wearing a mask since we will not be having students remove their mask for their audition.
WHO: Any Hillcrest High School student is welcome and encouraged to audition. No prior experience necessary. Beginners are encouraged! We are looking for students from all ethnicities and backgrounds.
WHAT: Hillcrest's "giant musical" is the largest activity the school sponsors. Every year, students are involved from every corner of the school. You will definitely meet new people. Hillcrest is the only school to win the Utah High School Musical Theatre Award for Best Musical in the State more than once. Here is more info on this year's show:
"The Hunchback of Notre Dame" is currently scheduled to perform Feb. 25-Mar. 1 in the HHS auditorium. Although we will have a few vocal rehearsals in December, weekly rehearsals will not begin until January. We are willing to work with student athletes on winter sports teams. If you are interested in being in the show, we can look at your practice schedule, and try to work around it.
All district Covid policies regarding performing arts will be strictly enforced. We will be taking an abundance of caution to keep cast members and audiences safe and healthy (which may include but are not limited to: splitting up the cast into smaller groups that all rehearse on different days; implementing double- and triple-casting; virtual rehearsals, etc).
Please spread the word to all of your friends about try-outs. See you there!
